Haradrim Archer by CuielRilwen Haradrim Archer by CuielRilwen
Finally something...and glad that it is this particular image!

This is dedicated to :iconlindowyn: Lindowyn. Because she understands and she makes great stock. Since this is a southron archer I tried to create a sense of doom and similiarity to the "manmade weather" in Middle Earth during Saurons rule. Hope you like it dear. :)

:iconlindowyn-stock: Southron Archers.

:iconmithgariel-stock: Background image.

:iconardcor: forever using your cloud brushes, they rock!

Beautiful work! This is so thought provoking. It tells a story , creates a feeling of thought and invites interpretation. There is a lot of emotion in this one.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it! :D It means something special to me, in several ways...I made it from images a friend took, sort of a challenge and a transformation of a bad situation...we are both archers and Tolkien fans. :)

impressive.. everything really works together and the mood is well set. I love how the archer is slightly faded next to her arrow drawn and ready.

I was wondering though if you would allow me to use this image in the trading card game I am working on; I will give full credit to you if you allow me to use the picture. I will not use this image unless you give permission of course. If you have any questions just post a comment here or email me at cardsofwar@live.com

Thanks, I'm glad you like! :D What kind of trading card game is that? I don't think I'd mind, as long as it's nothing abusive of sorts.

BUT you also need to ask my stockists lindowynstock and mithgarielstock for permission!!! I'm commenting on their profiles linking to this string . :)

what do you guys want to exactly know about the game? lol I can give a a 3 sentance explanation or a two paragraph explanation. I'll just give the shorter explanation.

Cards Of War is a free trading card game, that will eventually go online. I developed the game for two reasons, A) Enjoy card games clearly B) sick of seeing people pay insane amounts of money for a card game online. Cards of war has many simularities to most traditional card games with some minor and major changes. Their is a health point system for each creature and creature abilitys are different compared to most card games (such as healing each other, damage boosts, ect).

If you want in more detail what its about just ask but most people dont want to read that much information lol.

Hello!

Searching for some new stock one thing lead to the next and I suddenly found myself on this page and... I must say that this work is absolutely stunning. The idea of using a front image and a background image is something I never thought of (even if it is something usual in movie promotions or posters and such). I love the mood and how it looks and that is why I really wanted to leave some words of congratulations!
Love fantasy...

Hi there! I am so glad you like it, tho I can't take credit for the idea as it is rather common in some circles. :) I prefer the use of a few larger elements with different opacities to lots of things competing for the attention of the viewer, that is part of the reason I chose this technique here. Thanks so much for the kind words!

Lindowyn is a great stocker, I love her work!

Hi back !!
Thanks for your kind answer :aww:

You know, it is quite difficult to be original nowadays, but even if the use of elements and opacities is known, what YOU did is great! You could have made the same work unappealing if you were not good at this... get what I mean?

She is a great stocker
I am a beginner on manips, done about 5-6 works only, but I really love it and I hope to improve more and more !!!

Yeah I know...and I'd rather make one image that appeals to me than 10 that doesn't. I understand what you mean...and it's an ongoing process!

I work rather instinctively and sometimes start by piling a lot of images on top of each other in layers, and then play around until a plan emerges! lol Practice makes at least better. I also try to follow some tutorials every now and then. :)

Sorry for the late reply, been absent lately

I do think like you. As an apprentice I keep works
until I think I did the best I could (and if I don't
like them, I don't submit them at all until I can
do what I like .... or I remove them from my computer).

Your "piling images" mental image made me smile....
sounds like fun!

Hehehe sometimes...but it can be frustrating too when I don't find the right ones!

Right now I'm making x-mas cards for friends, using images on my pc and a combo of masks and brushes. Real simple but looks good.

Have a happy x-mas...if you celebrate it...and a lovely holiday if you don't. :)

:aww: Well, I've decided to add you to my watch so I can remember to go to your
gallery later and look at your works. I'll be leaving soon for vacations and will be back only in February, so you won't be hearing much from me...
I'll probably unwatch everything until I return (it's frustrating to come back and find like 3000 deviations to look at)... or maybe not. I never know. When the moment comes I usually don't (and then I regret that upon return !).

I do celebrate Christmas... same to you, and have a blessed start in 2010!

I did the same...I haven't had the time to look at all your stuff but you got some lovely photos on the first page of your gallery. And also you struck a special cord in me with your story about your nephew, and about taking things for granted and how we always say "tomorrow." I can so relate to this, tho not by death...there are other ways to lose someone dear.

I hope you have a lovely vacation! Looking forward to hearing from you again. Happy new years girl!

Beautiful.
Now there are two archers with similar background. Since I just couldn't resist after having seen Ash's works and had to create an archer myself - of course using my own bog setting :p

I just found this comment, LOL!!!!!

I shall have to find a local bog to wander around in. Only bad bit about bogs here is the poisonous snakes. D: "Ashley running from snake stock" would have some very genuine looks of fear.

Or come around here, we don't have snakes in the bog. No poisonous ones, at least.

Aw, wow!! I'd say you definitely hit the nail on the head here. It's that right mix of Mordorian/Harad mystery and bleakness. It's so good to have a fellow artist that "gets it", and it was very kind of you to dedicate this to me. It's wonderful. :)
